YOGA SYNTHESIS™ ADVANCED TEACHER TRAINING with RAJI THRON
The next Yoga Synthesis™ Advanced Teacher Training begins February 10, 2012.
Introduction - The Yoga Synthesis™ Advanced Teacher Training is designed for individuals who have successfully completed a basic 200-hour Yoga Alliance-registered training and are interested in deepening their knowledge and experience in more specialized and advanced areas of yoga practice and teaching. Main presentations and classes are taught by Raji Thron, with assistance from Yoga Synthesis™ Staff Teachers and special guest presenters.
Advanced Certification – The Yoga Synthesis™ Advanced Teacher Training is a 300-hour training, approved and registered with Yoga Alliance. Upon completion of all requirements, trainees receive a Certificate which may be submitted to Yoga Alliance for 500 hour registration.
Topics covered include - Topics covered include: 1) Anatomy, Biomechanics and Body Reading, 2) Alignment, Modification and Prop Usage, 3) Basic Structural and Systemic Yoga Therapeutics, 4) Teaching Themes: Risk management, Sequencing, Language and presentation style, etc., 5) Pranayama and Meditation, 6) Sanskrit, Mantras and Yoga Philosophy, 7) Ayurveda and Basic Health Practices, 8) Esoteric Anatomy & Energy Work, 9) Chakra and Meridian Therapy in Yoga, 10) Advancing in Asana and Adjustments, 11) Yin Yoga, 12) Thai Yoga Bodywork, 13) Yoga for Women.
Dates, Timing and Location - The next Yoga Synthesis™ Advanced Teacher Training begins February 10, 2012 and runs for 8 weekends at the Yoga Synthesis™ studio.
Weekend Course Time Includes:
Friday nights from 7:00 - 10:00 pm
Saturdays from 11:30 am to 6:30 pm
Sundays from 11:30 am to 6:30 pm
*Trainees are also required to take 20 and assist 4 classes with Raji during the span of the training.

Prerequisites - Candidates for admission into the Yoga Synthesis™ Advanced Teachers’ Training are required to have a minimum of 200 hour Basic Yoga Training and be currently teaching.
For those who did not take the Yoga Synthesis Basic Teacher Training, a mandatory Basic TT Review will be offered.

Requirements - In order to receive a Certification, participants are required to:
• Attend each training session in its entirety (except in the event of illness or severe emergency situations).
• Complete all required reading assignments.
• Submit all written homework, including essays based on required reading.
• Complete 4 class assists with Raji.
• Observe/take 20 classes with Raji at Yoga Synthesis. Class payment included in tuition.
• Submit fully completed Final Project, including written and practical parts.
• Missed training presentations may be made up through private instruction arranged with the instructor, at a minimum fee of $150 for every 2 hours of private instruction.

Tuition - is $3,600. A $1,000 deposit is required to secure Applicant's place in the training. Receipt of the deposit no less than one month prior to the start date secures a discounted tuition of $3,500. Payment in full prior to the beginning of the training is preferred. Payment plans are available based on the full tuition of $3,600. Cost of books and props is not included. Yoga Synthesis™ classes and workshops are discounted to trainees.

Yoga Synthesis™ Basic Certification Teacher Training with Raji Thron
The Yoga Synthesis™ Basic Certification Teacher Training gives a comprehensive view of the major yoga styles and methods with particular focus on Classical Hatha, Viniyoga, Iyengar Yoga, and Ashtanga Vinyasa. Special presentations on Yin Yoga, Kundalini Yoga, Partner Yoga and Thai yoga bodywork are given. Forms are compared and discussed to facilitate a broader understanding of the whole while continually emphasizing the core principles and commonalities. The practical aspects of teaching such as risk management, alignment and adjustment are combined with foundational theory in yoga philosophy and Ayurveda.
Participants are encouraged to dive wholeheartedly into their own practice, practice teaching and class observations in order to further their own development in yoga, and to gain practical insight into teaching technique, methodology and style. Each training session includes theory, postural practice, breathing practice, meditation, relaxation, discussion and teaching practicum. Main presentations and classes are taught by Raji Thron, with assistance from Yoga Synthesis™ Staff Teachers and graduates. Special presentations and programs are taught intermittently by our adjunct faculty to enhance and deepen the learning experience.
Yoga Alliance Registration – The Yoga Synthesis™ Teacher Training is approved and registered with Yoga Alliance and meets the minimum Yoga Alliance requirement of 200 hours. Upon completion of all requirements, trainees receive a Certificate which can be submitted to Yoga Alliance for registration.
What Participants Will Learn:
•Yoga practices of various traditions: postural, breathing, meditation and relaxation
• Basic Yoga Philosophy, Psychology, Ayurveda and yogic health practices
•Teaching methodology, ethics, technique and style
•Anatomy and physiology related to yoga practices
•The practice and teaching of fundamental yoga postures, alignment, variations and modifications and sequencing
• The practice and teaching of fundamental breathing techniques, breath sequencing and meditation
•Essential Sanskrit terms and mantras commonly associated with yogic practices and yoga philosophy

Prerequisites - Candidates for admission into the Yoga Synthesis™ Teachers’ Training are required to have a minimum of 2 years currently consistent Yoga practice, and a basic understanding of yogic principles. To insure the integrity of the learning experience, all candidates must receive prior approval of the instructor.
Requirements - In order to receive a Certification, participants are required to:
•Attend each training session in its entirety (except in the event of illness or severe emergency situations).
•Complete all required reading assignments.
•Submit written homework, including essays based on required reading (due on Friday night of each section).
•Commit to a self-guided home practice a minimum of 2-3 times a week.
•Organize and teach 3 classes each month to a small informal group of friends or family.
•Attend 3 Yoga Synthesis™ public classes and 1 class in each yoga style being studied (9 classes).
•Complete 8 hours of class assisting with Yoga Synthesis™ Staff Teachers or other qualified teachers.
•Submit fully completed Journals using provided forms, documenting self-guided home practice, practice teaching, class attendance and class assisting.
•Pass all written and practical tests.
•Missed training presentations may be made up through private instruction arranged with the instructor, at a minimum fee of $150 for every 2 hours of private instruction.
Required Yoga Props - To insure that everyone has the correct props, the following items must be brought to the first training session: Yoga mat, 9-foot quick release Yoga strap, 2 - 4" Yoga blocks and 2 Mexican cotton blankets, 60”x 80”. Books and props may be purchased through the Yoga Synthesis studio (call for information).

Tuition – Tuition is $3,600. A $1,000 deposit is required to secure Applicant’s place in the training. Receipt of the deposit no less than one month prior to the start date secures a discounted tuition of $3,500. Payment in full prior to the beginning of the training is preferred. Payment plans are available based on the full tuition of $3,600. All payment plans incur an administrative fee of $50 per payment. Payment plans are arranged with no more than 4 payments. Refund Policy - Withdrawal refund prior to start date, $800. Thereafter, refunds are determined on an individual basis, depending upon time spent in the training, cost of training materials, etc. The Yoga Synthesis™ Teachers’ Training Manual and Manual Supplement are the property of Yoga Synthesis™, and must be returned to Yoga Synthesis™ upon withdrawal from program.
Course Plan Overview:
Section 1 – Orientation; Fundamentals of postural dynamics, breath awareness and meditation; Basic Yogic Principles; Vedas, Upanishads and Samkhya Cosmology; risk management; anatomy presentation.
Section 2 – Classical Hatha Yoga & Yoga in the Bhagavad-Gita: Classical-style Hatha Yoga; postural practices emphasizing the major postures to be learned in this style; basic 3-part breath; Kapalabhati; Nadi Shodhana; relaxation; meditation/chant; practice teaching Classical style; Yoga in the Bhagavad-Gita; anatomy presentation.
Section 3 – Krishnamacharya (breath-based) Yoga & Yoga of the Yoga Sutras: Ujjayi breathing technique; postural practice emphasizing the major vinyasas to be learned in this style; relaxation; meditation/chant; practice teaching breath-based style; presentations on the Yoga Sutras; anatomy presentation.
Section 4 – Iyengar-Style & Methodology; Continuation of Yoga Sutras Study: Iyengar-style yoga; postural practice emphasizing alignment principles; the major postures to be learned; Iyengar breathing technique; basic restorative yoga and the use of props; practice teaching Iyengar-style; anatomy presentation.
Section 5 – Ashtanga Yoga & Hatha Yoga Texts: Ashtanga-style yoga; chant; breathing technique; postural practice emphasizing the fundamental postural flow; relaxation; practice teaching Ashtanga style; presentations on Hatha Yoga in the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, and other Hatha Yoga texts; anatomy presentation.
Section 6 – The Art of Creative Sequencing & Integration of Styles: Prakasha Vinyasa. Mid-term practical and written test; discussion/analysis of teaching techniques and styles; review of material from first five sessions.
Section 7 – Yoga and Ayurveda; The Art of Creative Sequencing & Integration of Styles: Agni Vinyasa; Yin Yoga Presentation; Yoga Synthesis™ practice session; teaching practicum; extended pranayama, chanting and meditation.
Section 8 – The Art of Creative Sequencing & Integration of Styles: Integrating Kundalini Yoga techniques; teaching practicum; extended pranayama, chanting and meditation; presentation on Tantra, Kundalini Yoga and Chakra Model.
Section 9 – Final practice session; proficiency evaluations; teaching proficiency practical exam; written yoga theory and practice examination; final instructor feedback; Graduation Ceremony.
